The Government of Andhra Pradesh on March 13, 2026 issued a notification amending the Andhra Pradesh Excise (Compounding of Offences) Rules, 1973 under the powers granted by the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act, 1968.
The amendment modifies the Schedule under Rule 4 of the rules. Specifically, at Sl. No. 2A in Column 2, the phrase referring to the validity “till the date of notification issued under the same clause (a)(i)” has been replaced with the specific date “28.02.2026.”
This change clarifies the cut-off date applicable for the compounding of certain excise offences under the relevant provision of the Act, thereby bringing greater certainty in the implementation of the rule.
