The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on March 18, 2026, issued revision of EWS Income Limit for Treatment in Identified Private Hospitals.
As per the decision of a Special Committee (in compliance with directions of the Delhi High Court), the income eligibility criterion for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) patients seeking treatment in identified private hospitals has been revised.
The annual income limit has been increased from ₹2,20,000 to ₹5,00,000, thereby expanding eligibility for EWS benefits.
All Medical Superintendents and Nodal Officers are directed to strictly implement the revised limit and continue following existing instructions for EWS patient treatment. Non-compliance with these directions will be treated seriously.
