The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on March 18, 2026, issued a notification amending the import policy provisions under Chapter 95 of ITC (HS), 2022 Schedule I. The amendment has been made in exercise of powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.

Through this notification, Policy Condition No. 2 (iii) under Chapter 95 has been deleted with immediate effect. This effectively removes a specific regulatory condition applicable to imports falling under this chapter, thereby easing compliance requirements for importers dealing in such goods.

The amendment is aimed at simplifying the import framework and ensuring smoother trade operations by eliminating an existing restriction. The notification has been issued with the approval of the Minister of Commerce & Industry and comes into force immediately.
