The Government of Karnataka (KSG), on March 13, 2026, issued a draft notification proposing amendments to the Karnataka Cinema (Regulation) Rules, 2014 under the powers conferred by Section 19 of the Karnataka Cinema (Regulation) Act, 1964. The draft rules have been published to invite objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected.
The proposed amendment specifically relates to Rule 26, where in sub-rule (1), clause (d), the term “eight meters” is proposed to be substituted with “six meters.” This change indicates a revision in the prescribed measurement requirement under the existing cinema regulation framework.
