Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on March 19, 2026, issued a notification amending tariff valuation provisions under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The amendment substitutes Table-1, Table-2, and Table-3 of Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), originally dated August 3, 2001.

The revised tables continue to prescribe tariff values for specified imported goods such as crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. Notably, while the tables have been substituted, the tariff values for these commodities remain unchanged, indicating a formal update or alignment without altering valuation benchmarks.

This notification shall come into force with effect from March 20, 2026, ensuring continuity in customs valuation for the specified goods while updating the statutory notification framework.
