The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on March 18, 2026, notified regarding the Initiation of an anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of “Calcined Gypsum Powder” Originating in or exported from Egypt.
The following has been stated:
• The DGTR has initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of calcined gypsum powder (Plaster of Paris) from Egypt based on a complaint by Saint Gobain India Pvt. Ltd., a major domestic producer.
• The applicant alleged that the product is being dumped in India at unfairly low prices, causing injury to the domestic industry. Prima facie evidence shows increased imports, price suppression, and a negative impact on profitability, with dumping margins above the prescribed limit.
• The period of investigation is October 2024 to September 2025, and DGTR has found sufficient initial evidence of dumping, injury, and causal link to justify the probe under the Customs Tariff Act and Anti-Dumping Rules, 1995.
• Interested parties are required to submit relevant information within the prescribed timeline via the SETU portal, and the investigation may lead to the imposition of anti-dumping duty if the allegations are confirmed.
