Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on March 20, 2026, notified regarding the Index of Eight Core Industries (Base Year: 2011-12=100) for February, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• It states that the Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) recorded a 2.3% growth in February 2026 compared to February 2025, indicating a moderate improvement in key infrastructure sectors. Positive growth was seen in cement, steel, fertilizers, coal, and electricity, while crude oil production declined. 

• The final growth rate for January 2026 was 4.7%, and the cumulative growth for April–February 2025–26 stood at 2.9% (provisional). 

• The eight core industries—coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement, and electricity—together account for about 40% weight in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), making them crucial indicators of overall industrial performance.
