Commercial ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on March 19, 2026, notified regarding the Time-limited Support for Exporters in view of Geopolitical Disruptions in the Gulf and West Asia Maritime Corridor.

The following has been stated:

• The Government has introduced a time-limited RELIEF scheme (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) under the Export Promotion Mission to support Indian exporters affected by geopolitical disruptions in the Gulf and West Asia region.

• Due to rising tensions and disruptions in maritime routes, exporters are facing higher freight, insurance, and logistics costs. To address this, the scheme provides three key supports:

o (i) enhanced export credit risk coverage (up to 100%) for exporters already insured with ECGC,

o (ii) encouragement and support for new ECGC insurance coverage for upcoming exports with coverage up to 95%, and

o (iii) partial reimbursement (up to 50%) of additional freight and insurance costs for MSME exporters not covered by ECGC.

• The scheme applies to shipments during specified periods and covers exports to major Gulf countries. Implemented by ECGC, the total financial outlay is about ₹497 crore, aimed at reducing export risks, ensuring continuity of trade, and protecting exporters from losses during the disruption period.
