The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) on March 05, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation Plan of NABH Certification Standards for Emergency Department in Hospital 2nd Edition.
The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) has introduced the 2nd Edition of Certification Standards and Guidebook for Hospital Emergency Departments, available for free download on its website.
• Effective from: April 1, 2026
• Applicability:
o New applications (from April 1, 2026): Only 2nd Edition applicable
o Applications submitted till March 31, 2026: Option to choose 1st or 2nd Edition
o Re-certification (applied before March 31, 2026): Option for 1st or 2nd Edition
o Re-certification (after March 31, 2026): Only 2nd Edition applicable
• No applications (new/renewal) under the 1st Edition will be accepted after March 31, 2026
• Certificate validity remains unchanged at 2 years
• NABH will conduct refresher training programs to support implementation
Overall: The update transitions all emergency department certifications to the 2nd Edition standards from April 2026, aiming to improve quality and standardization in hospital emergency care.
