The Ministry of Textiles, through the Office of the Jute Commissioner, on March 20, 2026, issued a notification to finalize the maximum ex-factory prices for specific jute bags. The order, made under the powers of the Jute and Jute Textiles Control Order, 2016, sets the price for 580gm 'Type-A' and 'Type-B' B-Twill Sacking bags for the month of August 2025.
The maximum ex-factory price for both Type A and Type B bags is fixed at ₹186,116.00 per metric ton and ₹10794.73 per 100 bags. The prices are exclusive of GST, which must be paid separately by the purchaser. The bags, which are of size 94cm x 57cm, must adhere to the specifications outlined in the BIS Specification IS: 16186:2014.
Furthermore, the notification mandates that every bag must be printed with a specific emblem as directed by the Office of the Jute Commissioner, along with the name of the manufacturing mill and the BIS certification mark. The bags must also meet the specified minimum breaking strength as per the BIS standard.
