Industry Specific Compliance The Finance Department West Bengal (FD), on February 18, 2026, issued a notification granting exemption from payment of education cess for specified tea estates in the state.

The notification provides that tea estates producing green tea leaves, on which education cess is otherwise leviable under the West Bengal Primary Education Act, 1973, shall be exempted from such cess for a period of one year in public interest.

This exemption will be effective from April 1, 2026, offering temporary financial relief to tea estate operators engaged in green tea production.
