The Government of Meghalaya, on March 18, 2026, issued an order directing all commercial establishments within the district to comply with prescribed LPG usage norms.
The order mandates that businesses such as hotels, restaurants, canteens, and street vendors must use only 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders for their operations. It further clarifies that the use of 14.5 kg domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes is prohibited as it violates provisions under the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
