Labour ComplianceThe Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on January 13, 2026, issued circular regarding the Strengthening of Drug Testing Mechanism in ESI Institutions,

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with approved testing laboratories of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India to ensure the quality of drugs procured by its institutions. As part of this process, ESI institutions were instructed to submit details of drug samples sent for testing—such as item name, rate contract (RC) details, and batch number—to the designated Website Content Manager for uploading on the ESIC headquarters website, thereby avoiding duplication of testing.

However, it has been observed that some institutions are not following the prescribed procedure and are instead sending drug testing data directly to the RC Cell at ESIC Headquarters. This deviation has been viewed seriously by the authorities. Therefore, all ESI institutions and hospitals have been once again directed to strictly adhere to the established process by submitting testing details and information on Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) drugs in the prescribed formats directly to the Website Content Manager, with a copy marked to the RC Cell for information.
