Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on March 24, 2026, notified regarding the regulatory surveillance over the Weight Loss Drug (GLP-1) Supply Chain.

The following has been stated:

• India’s drug regulator has intensified surveillance on GLP-1 weight loss drugs to curb unauthorized sale, misleading promotion, and misuse across pharmacies, online platforms, and clinics.

• An advisory issued on March 10, 2026, prohibits surrogate advertising and indirect promotion, while inspections at 49 entities have identified violations, with notices issued to defaulters.

• The regulator stresses that these drugs shall be used only under specialist prescription (Endocrinologists/Internal Medicine, and in some cases Cardiologists) due to serious health risks.

• Strict enforcement will continue, with penalties, license cancellation, and prosecution for non-compliance.
