The Excise and Taxation Department, Chandigarh Administration (CETD) on March 10, 2026, notified the Punjab Distillery (Chandigarh 1st Amendment) Rules, 2026 under the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, to revise provisions related to distillery regulations in the Union Territory.
The amendment, effective from April 1, 2026, substitutes clause (kk) under Rule 93 to introduce a revised framework for label registration fees for approval of liquor labels intended for sale in Chandigarh. This change is aimed at streamlining the process of label approvals and rationalizing fee structures applicable to manufacturers and suppliers.
The notification strengthens regulatory oversight in the excise regime while ensuring clarity and uniformity in fee applicability for labeling approvals within the Union Territory.
