The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on March 17, 2026, amended its earlier notification under the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 to provide revised concessions in the annual minimum marking fee for various categories of enterprises.
The amendment introduces significant fee relief measures valid till May 31, 2029. Micro and start-up enterprises will receive an 80% concession, while small-scale enterprises will be eligible for a 50% concession on the annual minimum marking fee payable by large-scale enterprises. These changes aim to promote participation of smaller businesses in standard certification processes.
Additionally, women entrepreneur enterprises will be granted an extra 10% concession over and above the applicable category (micro, small, or medium). The notification seeks to encourage inclusivity, support startups and MSMEs, and enhance adoption of quality standards across diverse business segments.
