The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on March 20, 2026, issued a communication declaring a drug batch as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) due to misbranding. The affected product is “Vildagliptin + Metformin Tablets (Vilglip-M 1000)” supplied by M/s Jammu Pvt. Ltd., where the composition of ‘Vildagliptin’ did not conform to IP 2022 standards as per laboratory testing.
Based on the test report, the drug has been classified as “Misbranded (Minor Defect)” and failed to meet prescribed pharmacopoeial specifications. The issue was identified by the Government Analyst, Food & Drugs Laboratory, Jammu, under Report No. CFDL/J/2025-2026/1748 dated February 26, 2026.
ESIC has directed all concerned institutions to immediately stop usage of the affected batch, recover the cost along with testing charges from the supplier, initiate action as per tender conditions, and maintain records of actions taken to ensure compliance and patient safety.
