Industry Specific ComplianceThe Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on March 25, 2026, issued the Tariff Framework and Quality of Service Monitoring Mechanism.

Under the TRAI Act, 1997, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regulates telecom tariffs and ensures quality of service (QoS). While most mobile and data service tariffs are under forbearance—allowing service providers to set prices based on market conditions—TRAI continues to regulate specific services. This framework, along with market competition, has contributed to India having among the lowest telecom tariffs globally.

To protect consumer interests, TRAI actively monitors QoS through periodic reports, audits, and drive tests. Service providers must meet prescribed benchmarks, failing which financial penalties are imposed for non-compliance, increasing with repeated violations. The findings are publicly disclosed, ensuring transparency and accountability in service delivery.
