BIS Amendments to Indian Standards on Bitumen and Related Products

Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on March 25, 2026 has issued a notification under Rule 15(1) of the BIS Rules, 2018, notifying amendments to certain Indian Standards. These amendments pertain to specifications relating to paving bitumen, cutback bitumen, industrial bitumen, and sealing compounds for lead-acid batteries.

The notified amendments include Amendment No. 4 to IS 73:2013 and Amendment No. 2 to IS 217:2018, IS 702:2022, and IS 3116:2002. All amendments have been established with effect from March 25, 2026, and aim to update technical specifications and standards in line with current requirements.

The existing standards without these amendments will remain valid up to September 24, 2026, after which compliance with the amended standards will be mandatory.
