Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Finance (MoF) on March 26, 2026, issued an amendment to the older notification no. 05/2019-Central Excise, dated July 06, 2019, related to an increase in the effective rate of Special Additional Excise Duty on Petrol and Diesel.

The following has been stated:

• The notification amends the existing table by revising duty rates: for Sl. No. 1 to ₹3 per litre and for Sl. No. 2 to Nil.

• It further clarifies that the provisions shall not apply to goods cleared for export.

• The changes are made effective immediately.
