The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on March 27, 2026, notified regarding the Amendment in import policy condition of Urea [Exim Code 31021010] in the ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule - I (Import Policy).
The following has been stated:
• The Government has extended the State Trading Enterprise (STE) status of Indian Potash Limited (IPL) for the import of agricultural-grade urea on government account till March 31, 2027.
• This is done through an amendment in the import policy condition under ITC(HS) Code 31021010, Chapter 31 of ITC (HS), 2022.
• The notification continues earlier provisions without any other changes, and such imports will remain subject to Para 2.21 of FTP 2023, thereby allowing urea imports exclusively through IPL for the specified period.
