Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) on March 25, 2026, revised the ceiling prices of certain scheduled injectable formulations based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) increase of 0.64956% for the year 2025 over 2024. The revised prices apply to drugs such as Metronidazole, Mannitol, Dextrose, and Ciprofloxacin injections in non-glass packaging with special features, effective from April 1, 2026.

The order specifies that manufacturers selling these formulations above the notified ceiling price must reduce their prices accordingly, while those with lower MRPs may revise prices in line with WPI provisions under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. The notification also details applicability of specific formulations to different manufacturers and mandates compliance with conditions regarding GST, separate price approvals for special packs, and submission of revised price details.

Further, manufacturers are required to comply with procedural obligations including submission of Form-II for price revision, issuance of price lists, quarterly reporting, and prior approval for new drugs. Non-compliance with the prescribed ceiling prices will result in recovery of overcharged amounts along with interest under the applicable legal provisions.
