The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) on March 29, 2026, issued a notification regarding temporary relaxation for the distribution of PDS Kerosene.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government permits up to two designated PSU OMC service stations per district in PDS SKO-free States/UTs to store and distribute kerosene (SKO) up to 5,000 litres.
•Agents, dealers, and licensed tank vehicles are exempt from requiring additional licences for decanting SKO at these stations.
•Distribution is strictly for cooking and lighting purposes, with mandatory compliance with safety norms and record-keeping.
•The notification is effective immediately and will remain valid for 60 days or until further orders.
