The Department of Industry, Energy, Labour and Mining, Maharashtra, on March 28, 2026, issued a notification regarding draft amendments to the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017.
The following has been stated: -
•Governance Process Reengineering (GPR) aims to simplify government processes, reduce delays, and improve efficiency, transparency, and citizen-centric service delivery.
•It promotes e-governance by enabling online access to services, reducing paperwork and physical visits to offices.
•Under GPR, registration and intimation services under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, 2017, have been selected for reform.
•Changes have been made to Rule 5(2) of the 2018 Rules and related forms to reduce information and document requirements.
•Time limit in Rule 5(2) is reduced from seven working days to one working day.
•Certain fields in Form A and Form F are removed, and ownership/rental details of business premises are newly structured.
•Proof of establishment requirements are updated, allowing multiple document options (e.g., electricity bill, tax receipt, 7/12 extract).
•Additional requirement added for proof of establishment address in the Schedule.
Any objections or suggestions may be submitted within 7 days.
