The Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) on March 13, 2026, issued the notification regarding the early redemption of sovereign gold bonds calendar for the period April 2026 to September 2026.
The following has been stated namely: -
• As per Reserve Bank of India guidelines, premature redemption of Sovereign Gold Bonds is allowed after 5 years from issue date, on coupon payment dates, schedule for 2026 redemptions has been provided.
• Investors must submit a Repurchase/Redemption Request Form (RRF) to their Depository Participant (DP) within the specified window for each SGB series.
• DPs must process requests electronically in the CDAS system under Rematerialisation Module → Restat Option → Redemption, entering quantity (not amount).
• A mandatory maker-checker mechanism must be followed: one user initiates the request and another verifies/approves it before submission.
• DPs must email redemption details to CDSL in prescribed format and ensure correct client bank details to avoid payment issues.
