The Government of Maharashtra, on March 24, 2026, issued the Maharashtra Private Skills Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to amend the Maharashtra Private Skills Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment to the Maharashtra Private Skills Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2024, adds two new private skill universities to Part II of its Schedule.
•These are Pasha Patel SkillTech University, Lodga (Latur), sponsored by Phoenix Foundation Sanstha, and FUEL Skill Tech and Entrepreneurship University, Pune, sponsored by FUEL Trust.
•Both sponsoring bodies have fulfilled the requirements under Section 5 of the Act, as verified by the Government-appointed committee.
•Under Section 6, the State Government can approve such universities by amending the Schedule through legislation.
•The amendment enables the formal establishment and regulation of these universities to promote skill-based education in Maharashtra.
