Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on March 23, 2026, issued a notification announcing the establishment of revised Indian Standards under Rule 15(1) of the BIS Rules, 2018. These standards were officially established on March 20, 2026, and pertain to key industrial and environmental safety domains.

The notification covers four revised standards: IS 4263:2026 (Code of Safety for Chlorine), IS 5182 (Part 25):2026 (Air Pollution Measurement – Ammonia), IS 6719:2026 (Moulded PVC Unit Outsoles Specification), and IS 14656:2026 (Methods of Test for Ceramic Fibre Products). Each of these replaces earlier versions, reflecting updated technical requirements, improved safety practices, and modernized testing methodologies.

The previous versions of these standards will remain in force concurrently until September 20, 2026, after which they will be withdrawn. This transition period allows stakeholders sufficient time to align with the revised standards and ensure compliance.
