The Revenue and Forest Department, Govt. of Maharashtra on March 25, 2026, notified regarding the One-Time Full Stamp Duty Exemption on Sale Certificates of Enemy Properties.
The following has been stated:
• The Government has granted full remission of stamp duty on the Certificate of Sale issued by the Custodian of Enemy Property for India (CEPI) for enemy properties located in the state, in the public interest.
• This exemption applies only to the first sale certificate issued under the Enemy Property Act, 1968. However, beneficiaries cannot claim any additional stamp duty concessions for the same transaction, and no refund will be given if stamp duty was already paid before this order was published. The remission is also not applicable to subsequent transfers of the property and cannot be availed if any other stamp duty benefit has already been taken for the same property.
• In essence, the order provides a one-time stamp duty waiver on the initial sale of enemy properties, with strict conditions to prevent multiple or retrospective benefits.
