The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, on March 30, 2026, issued Notification No. 32/2026-Customs (N.T.) amending the earlier Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) under section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The amendments come into effect from March 31, 2026.
The notification revises tariff values for various imported goods. Key changes include updated tariff values for edible oils such as crude palm oil (USD 1141/MT), RBD palm oil (USD 1162/MT), crude soya bean oil (USD 1224/MT), and palmolein variants. It also specifies tariff values for brass scrap (USD 7117/MT), gold (USD 1450 per 10 grams), and silver (USD 2201 per kilogram), with detailed classifications based on form and import conditions.
Additionally, the tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged at USD 7020 per metric tonne. These revisions are aimed at aligning customs valuation with prevailing international prices and ensuring appropriate duty assessment on notified goods.
