CBDT prescribes new PAN correction forms and procedures effective April 1, 2026

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), through the Directorate of Income-tax (Systems), on April 1, 2026, issued an order under Rule 158(12) of the Income-tax Rules, 2026 read with section 262(4) of the Income-tax Act, 2025, specifying updated forms and procedures for correction of PAN data.

The order introduces two standardized forms for PAN correction: PAN CR-01 for individuals and PAN CR-02 for non-individual entities. These forms, along with detailed guidelines, are provided in PDF format and are required to be used by PAN holders seeking any changes or corrections in their PAN details.

Further, the forms can be submitted either physically at PAN service centres operated by UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL) and Protean eGov Technologies Limited, or through their respective online portals. The order is effective from April 1, 2026, streamlining the PAN correction process with standardized documentation and procedures.
