The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, on March 31, 2026, issued Notification No. 71/2025-26 amending the import policy under the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.
The notification extends the “Free” import policy for Urad (Beans of species Vigna mungo) under ITC (HS) Code 07133110. Earlier permitted freely for import up to March 31, 2026, the policy has now been extended by one year, allowing unrestricted imports until March 31, 2027.
This extension ensures continued availability of Urad in the domestic market and supports price stability by allowing imports without quantitative restrictions during the extended period.
