Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on March 27, 2026, issued a draft notification proposing amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, inviting objections and suggestions within 30 days from publication in the Official Gazette.

The draft proposes changes in Rule 93 to exclude certain fittings—such as rear-view mirrors, guard rails, side foot steps, and load enclosure systems for tippers and dumpers—from being considered while measuring the overall height of motor vehicles. This aims to provide clarity and uniformity in vehicle dimension standards.

Further, an important amendment to Rule 138-B mandates that from April 1, 2027, all tippers and dumpers must be equipped with systems (electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic) to fully cover the load body while in motion, along with an in-cabin audio-visual alert system to warn drivers if the cover is open or unsecured.
