The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 31, 2026, notified the Reserve Bank of India (Trade Relief Measures) Directions, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Reserve Bank of India (Trade Relief Measures) Directions, 2026, aim to ease the debt burden and support businesses affected by geopolitical tensions.
•Issued under various laws, these directions come into effect immediately.
•They apply to banks, co-operative banks, NBFC factors, and financial institutions involved in export financing.
•Export credit tenure for pre- and post-shipment can be extended up to 450 days for loans disbursed till June 30, 2026.
•Existing export credit can be settled through alternate sources, including domestic sales or proceeds from other export orders.
These Directions shall come into force immediately.
