EHS ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra, on March 25, 2026, enacted the Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks (Amendment) Act, 2026, to amend the Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks Act, 2017. The Act comes into force on a date to be notified by the State Government in the Official Gazette.

The amendment primarily revises the nomenclature of regulatory authorities under the principal Act. It substitutes the terms “Electrical Inspector (Lifts)” with “Electrical Inspector” and “Assistant Electrical Inspector (Lifts)” with “Assistant Electrical Inspector” throughout the Act.

This change streamlines terminology and aligns designation usage across the regulatory framework governing lifts, escalators, and moving walks in the state.
