The Department of Income Tax on April 01, 2026, notified regarding the Launch of New Income Tax Challans under the Income Tax Act, 2025, on the E-Filing Portal (Effective April 01, 2026).
It states that New challans for tax payments under the Income Tax Act, 2025, have been made live on the Income Tax e-filing portal from April 01, 2026, accessible via e-File → e-Pay Tax → select the relevant option. Payments for Tax Year 2026–27 onwards will be governed by the new Act, while payments for earlier periods (up to AY 2026–27) will continue under the Income Tax Act, 1961. Both options remain available on the portal for user convenience. Users are advised to refer to the official manuals for guidance on the new challan formats.
