Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Uttar Pradesh on March 24, 2026, issued the Wheat Procurement Policy under the MSP for the Rabi Marketing Year 2026–27.

The following has been stated:

• It has issued a policy for the procurement of wheat under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for the Rabi Marketing Year 2026–27 to ensure farmers receive fair and remunerative prices. Wheat will be purchased at the MSP of ₹2585 per quintal as declared by the Government of India, with a procurement target of 30 lakh metric tonnes. Around 6500 procurement centres will be set up across the state through various agencies such as the Food Department, PCF, FCI, NAFED, and cooperative bodies.

• The procurement period will run from March 30, 2026, to June 15, 2026, with centres generally operating from 9 AM to 6 PM. Farmers shall register on the food department portal or through the Kisan Mitra app, and even sharecroppers (bataidars) and registered trusts are allowed to sell wheat, subject to verification.

• Procurement will be conducted strictly through an online e-procurement system, and offline purchases will not be accepted. Quality standards will follow the Government of India norms, and facilities like cleaning, weighing, and storage will be ensured at centres.

• Payments to farmers will be made directly into their bank accounts through PFMS, and additional support is provided for cleaning/loading costs.

• The order also provides for mobile procurement centres, GPS tracking of transport, and strict monitoring by district and nodal officers to ensure transparency, efficiency, and smooth operations throughout the procurement process.
