The Government of Goa on March 31, 2026, issued the Heatwave Safety Advisory.
The State Disaster Management Authority and Revenue Department, Goa, have issued safety guidelines in view of rising temperatures, advising citizens to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. People are encouraged to stay updated through weather news, remain hydrated by drinking water regularly, and wear light, loose cotton clothing along with protective gear like hats, umbrellas, and sunglasses when outdoors.
The advisory recommends carrying water while travelling, using ORS and natural cooling drinks like coconut water, buttermilk, and lemon water, and ensuring proper ventilation at home. Individuals feeling unwell should seek immediate medical attention. Measures such as keeping homes cool, using fans, and taking frequent cold baths are also suggested. Special care is advised for animals and birds by providing shade and sufficient drinking water.
Workers should avoid direct sun exposure, schedule heavy tasks during cooler hours, and take frequent breaks, with special attention to vulnerable groups like pregnant women and those with medical conditions. Citizens are advised to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 3 PM, refrain from strenuous activities, alcohol, caffeine, and heavy or stale food, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
