The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on April 01, 2026, issued the Overseas Investment regarding the Submission of References to the Reserve Bank.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Reserve Bank of India has decided to decentralize processing of Overseas Investment references, which were earlier handled at the Central Office, to seven Regional Offices.
• This new system will be effective from April 01, 2026, aiming to streamline and distribute workload across regions.
• Authorised Dealer (AD) banks must now submit proposals via the PRAVAAH portal to the designated RBI Regional Office based on the UIN (Unique Identification Number) prefix mapping.
• Specific UIN prefixes are mapped to offices such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai for processing.
• Necessary amendments will be made to the Master Direction on Overseas Investment (July 24, 2024), and banks are required to inform their customers and ensure compliance with the revised process.
