Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Finance (MoF) on April 01, 2026, issued a notification regarding Customs Duty exemption on Key Chemical and Polymer Imports.

The following has been stated: -

•The Central Government has exempted specified goods from customs duty under the Customs Act, 1962, in the public interest.

•The exemption applies to various chemicals and petrochemical products listed under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.

•Key items include ammonia, methanol, phenol, acetic acid, and several industrial chemicals.

•It also covers major polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS, and PVC.

•All listed goods will attract a Nil rate of customs duty upon import into India.

This notification shall come into force on April 02, 2026, and shall remain in force up to and inclusive of June 30, 2026.
