Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Punjab, on March 30, 2026, notified the Punjab Liquor License (First Amendment) Rules, 2026, to amend the Punjab Liquor License Rules, 1956.

The following has been stated: -

•The amendment to the Punjab Liquor License Rules, 1956, is issued by the Excise Commissioner of Punjab.

•It outlines updated fee structures for various liquor licenses (L-1 to L-52) for the 2026-27 financial year.

•Rules for license renewals are established, requiring a fee of 0.6% of the group's prescribed license fee.

•A 6.5% increase in the "discovered license fee" from 2025-26 is applied to calculate the 2026-27 reserve prices.

•The state is divided into 207 groups across Patiala, Jalandhar, and Ferozepur zones for license allocation.

•A "Cows Welfare Fee" of Rs 1.75 per Proof Litre (PL) is levied on PML, IMFL, and IFL.

•Specific excise duties are set at Rs 50 per PL for wholesale and manufacturer levels.

•These rules were deemed to take effect on March 05, 2026, for allotment and security matters, and April 01, 2026, for all others.
