Industry Specific ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on April 02, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Measures to instill trust in securities market - Expanding the framework of Qualified Stock Brokers (QSBs) to more stock brokers.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has defined criteria to designate certain stock brokers as Qualified Stock Brokers (QSBs) based on their size, operations, and market impact. 

• Key parameters include number of active clients, client assets, trading volumes (client & proprietary), and margin obligations. 

• A list of QSBs has been issued (Annexure A), and brokers not meeting criteria can apply voluntarily for QSB status by April 30, 2026. 

• QSBs must follow enhanced obligations and governance standards as per SEBI circulars and exchange guidelines. 

• Previously designated QSBs not in the current list must still comply with enhanced requirements for up to 3 additional financial years.
