The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) on April 02, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Measures to instill trust in securities market - Expanding the framework of Qualified Stock Brokers (QSBs) to more stock brokers.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has prescribed criteria to designate Qualified Stock Brokers (QSBs) based on their scale, client impact, and governance standards.
• The key parameters include active clients, client assets, trading volumes (excluding proprietary), margin obligations, and proprietary trading activity.
• A list of designated QSBs is issued (Annexure A), while other brokers can apply voluntarily for QSB status by April 30, 2026 via [email protected].
• QSBs must comply with enhanced obligations and additional responsibilities as per SEBI circulars and Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) guidelines.
• Previously designated QSBs not in the current list must still continue enhanced compliance for up to 3 financial years or as directed by the exchange in consultation with SEBI.
