Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on April 01, 2026, issued a notification revising the limits of liability under the Carriage by Air Act, 1972, in line with updated limits prescribed by the international depository, to ensure alignment with global standards.

The notification amends provisions under the Third Schedule by enhancing compensation limits for passenger liability and baggage/cargo claims. Key revisions include an increase in passenger liability from 128,821 to 151,880 (SDR equivalent), along with corresponding upward revisions in baggage and cargo liability thresholds.

These changes are made effective retrospectively from December 28, 2024, and aim to strengthen passenger protection while ensuring consistency with international aviation liability frameworks.
