The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on April 01, 2026, issued a notification regarding implementation of Section 51A of UAPA, 1967: Updates to UNSC’s 1267/ 1989 ISIL (Da'esh) & Al-Qaida Sanctions List: Listing of 01 Entry.
The following has been stated: -
•The Reserve Bank of India has notified regulated entities about an update to the UNSC ISIL (Da’esh) & Al-Qaida Sanctions List under Section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
•One individual has been newly added to the sanctions list as per the United Nations Security Council press release dated March 30, 2026.
•Regulated entities must ensure no accounts are maintained for listed individuals/entities and take actions like asset freeze and compliance checks.
•Entities must strictly follow procedures under RBI KYC Directions and UAPA Orders for reporting and enforcement.
•Any delisting requests must be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs or through the UN Ombudsperson mechanism.
