Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Goa, on April 02, 2026, imposed restrictions on transportation of liquor in connection with the bye-election to the Ponda Assembly Constituency. The prohibition applies within the constituency area from 6:00 p.m. on April 07, 2026 to 6:00 p.m. on April 09, 2026 or till the close of poll, whichever is later, and also on May 04, 2026 (counting day).

During the restricted period, movement of liquor from one place to another within the notified area is completely prohibited to ensure free and fair conduct of elections. These measures are typically enforced to prevent undue influence on voters and maintain law and order.

Additionally, limits have been prescribed on possession of liquor: a maximum of three quart bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) or other foreign liquor (excluding beer), six bottles of beer (650 ml each), and three quart bottles of country liquor per person (including family).
