The Government of Goa on April 02, 2026, issued restrictions on Sale of Liquor during Bye-Election.
The Department of Finance (Revenue & Control) has ordered closure of all licensed liquor sale premises in the Ponda Assembly Constituency, South Goa, from 6:00 p.m. on April 7, 2026 to 6:00 p.m. on April 9, 2026 (or till the end of polling, whichever is later), and again on May 4, 2026 for counting day.
This restriction is imposed due to the bye-election in the constituency to ensure orderly conduct of polling and counting.
However, establishments with bar and restaurant licenses may keep their restaurants open for food service only, with bar counters closed. They must also display a notice clearly stating that liquor will not be served during this period.
