The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on April 03, 2026, notified regarding the inspection outcomes, enforcement actions by the CAQM’s Enforcement Task Force.
The Commission for Air Quality Management, in its 128th Enforcement Task Force meeting held on April 2, 2026, reviewed inspections and enforcement actions carried out across the NCR between March 14 and March 26, 2026. A total of 175 inspections were conducted across sectors such as construction, industries, road dust, and diesel generator (DG) sets, leading to proposed closures for 10 units, sealing of 27 DG sets, issuance of 8 show cause notices, and environmental compensation in 1 case.
The Task Force also examined road dust violations in Meerut and Faridabad, where 140 violations were identified across 16 zones, with directions issued to municipal bodies for corrective action. Focus areas for stricter inspections include DG sets, construction sites, road dust, and stone crushers, along with ongoing restructuring of Flying Squad teams.
Cumulatively, 26,672 inspections have been conducted so far, resulting in 1,755 closure directions, of which 1,330 units have resumed operations after compliance. Additionally, some cases have been referred to pollution control authorities, while others remain under review. The Commission emphasized stronger enforcement, better coordination, and strict adherence to environmental norms to control air pollution in NCR.
