The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) on March 20, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Introduction of AI Powered Dashcam Monitoring System for National Highway Operations and Management.
The following has been stated namely: -
• National Highways Authority of India will deploy AI-powered Dashcam Analytics Services (DAS) across 40,000 km of highways to enable data-driven monitoring and maintenance.
• AI/ML systems using dashcams on patrol vehicles will detect road defects (potholes, cracks), damaged infrastructure, and safety issues through regular surveys, including night inspections.
• A centralized IT platform with dashboards and data integration will track road conditions, monitor repairs, and improve safety and efficiency across the highway network.
