Labour ComplianceThe Government of Bihar on April 01, 2026, notified the Revised Minimum Wages with VDA Effective April 1, 2026.

The Governor of Bihar, under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, has introduced a revised formula for Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) linked to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). The VDA effective from April 1, 2026 is based on the average index for July–December 2025, with future revisions to be made half-yearly depending on changes in the index.

Revised minimum wages effective April 1, 2026 have been notified across categories: unskilled (₹436/day), semi-skilled (₹452/day), skilled (₹551/day), and highly skilled (₹672/day), including the VDA component. Detailed piece-rate wages have also been prescribed for various scheduled employments such as construction, mining, bidi making, brick manufacturing, and other sectors.

The notification clarifies that wages will increase or decrease with changes in AICPI, but no reduction will occur if the index falls below the base level. It also provides guidelines for wage calculation (daily/monthly), overtime (double wages), and ensures equal wages for men and women for similar work.
