The Government of Maharashtra on March 17, 2026, issued the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) (Amendment) Act, 2026, to further amend the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 2 that states “Definitions” under clause (q) the following has been inserted namely: -
“(iv) the Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills University incorporated under the Maharashtra State Skills University Act, 2021; or the self-financed private skills university mentioned in the Schedule to the Maharashtra Private Skills Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2024 or any college or institution affiliated to those universities;"
• Section 6A which states “Manner of admission in Government institution, etc.” has been inserted namely: -
“The provisions of sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 in respect of the Regulations of Admissions and section 10 in respect of CET Cell shall mutatis mutandis apply to Government institution, Government aided institution and Public University Departments or institutes."
• Chapter III-A which state “Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell” has been substituted.
This shall come into force on February 22, 2026.
